CHILI COOK-OFF

This year 30 local restaurants donated 300 gallons of chili, each hoping to win one of the coveted trophies. 14 chili aficionados from the community, including Interim Mayor Todd Gloria and Congresswoman Susan Davis, were part of a blind taste test to pick the winners. And the 2013 winners are:

Best Overall: Carnitas Snack Shack, smoked rib huajillo chili with cheddar cornbread croutons

Best Vegetarian: Sipz Vegetarian Fusion Cafe, vegan chili with soyrizo

Most Unique: Blind Lady Ale House, duck and pork chili verde

People’s Choice: Mosaic Wine Bar, spicy alligator and beef chili with a bourbon barrel stout
